Lisa Moreau receives 2026-27 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award

Lisa Moreau, an instructor at the Sanford School of Public Policy since 2019, has been selected as a 2026-27 Fulbright U.S. Scholar.

Moreau, a seasoned international development professional with over 35 years of experience in capacity development, project management and adult learning, will spend the fall semester at Charles University in Prague working in the Department of Civil Society Studies. 

Through the award, she will focus on three initiatives: (1) Teaching "Project Management for NGOs," a graduate course preparing future leaders to maximize project impact; (2) Co-developing research utilization seminars for doctoral candidates that will connect research to practice; and (3) Leading Systems Thinking workshops to introduce nonprofit professionals and students to practical tools for mapping complex problems.

"Inspired by Tomáš Masaryk’s (first president of Czechoslovakia) belief that democracy is grounded in our shared humanity, I’m excited to build connections between Charles University and Duke University—advancing nonprofit (NGO) leadership and innovation through global exchange," Moreau shared.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is one of the nation's most prestigious international academic exchange programs. Fulbright Scholar Awards provide faculty and professionals with transformative opportunities to teach and conduct research abroad while fostering long-term international partnerships.
