Edmund Malesky discusses economic development in Vietnam on Forward Vietnam Podcast

The professor of political economy and director of the Duke Center for International Development spoke about his research projects related to Vietnam.

Edmund Malesky, professor of political economy and director of the Duke Center for International Development, was a recent guest on the Forward Vietnam Podcast.

In Episode 39, he spoke about economic development in Vietnam and his research projects related to Vietnam, including the Provincial Competitiveness Index, which evaluates the country’s business environment.

Malesky is a specialist on Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam. His current research agenda is at the intersection of comparative and international political economy, falling into three major categories: 1) Authoritarian political institutions and their consequences; 2) The political influence of foreign direct investment and multinational corporations; and 3) Political institutions, private business development and formalization.
